Singularity – Synopsis

Louis Haldimand, a middle-aged, private eye, is a mess. His son is dead, his wife left him, and he’s been fired from his detective gig with the Toronto Police Service. Struggling with alcohol abuse and depression, he is haunted by apparitions of his deceased son. Despite his grim outlook, he’s desperate for cash, so he takes a job investigating the disappearance of Danielle Stevens, who is believed to have joined local transhumanist cult, Singularity. Haldimand infiltrates the cult’s mansion. Challenged by violence-ready members, an arduous daily regime and a rogue A.I. weapon, Haldimand weaves his own lies to find and convince Danielle to escape. With the help of an eager yet superstitious young woman and the apparitions of his dead son, Haldimand’s pursuit of Danielle gets mired in emotions he can’t avoid. The detective’s life is equally at stake as he navigates the nefarious underbelly of government-and-cult-curated coverups and his post-traumatic stress of the loss of his son.
