Fall 2025 Writing Update
It is often the dream of writers to have a productive stint and find themselves enraptured in the frenzy of creative writing. I was hoping for just such an opportunity this summer myself, and oh what a summer of writing it has been! This summer I was really “in the zone”, and was able to devote much of my time and energy to writing. Between April-August, I was able to write two full novel manuscripts and edit my first monograph.
First up, I ended up been inspired to write something completely different at the end of the Winter semester, Singularity, a novel which I mentioned in my Summer 2025 Writing update. It was envisioned as a standalone mystery/sci-fi novel about a disgruntled private detective, Louis, in Toronto, who investigates paranormal adjacent cases. In particular, Louis ends up getting wrapped up in a case that involves a missing girl, who has been swept up by a local cult. I had so much fun writing and editing the book that I ended up writing and editing an entire sequel in July and August, tentatively titled Vampirism. In the sequel, Louis investigates an alleged vampire stalker, who wreaks havoc upon the city of Toronto. It was a real pleasure to write. For me, one of the key goals to strive for in these books was to straddle the fine line between fact and fiction, leaving the reader wondering whether a naturalistic or paranormal solution is the correct one. Currently, I’m working on further editing for Singularity.
I also had the opportunity to complete revisions on my first monograph, The Place of the Jewish Court Tales in Early Jewish Literature and the Hebrew Bible. I’m happy to report that this book is now in the production stage with Bloomsbury, and should be available in April 2026. It is now up for preorder on Bloomsbury’s website.
Beyond the work above, I have another manuscript (narrative fiction) in the works now, but it is only in the early stages, so I hope to provide another update on that project in the future.
Stay well!
